Event
Name : International Women’s Day
Date : 08-03-2020
Venue : Metro College of Nursing
International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on the 8th of March every year. The United Nations began celebrating International Women's Day in the International Women's Year, 1975. In 1977, the United Nations General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8 as the UN Day for women's rights
In the twenty–first century, in the West, the day was increasingly sponsored by major corporations and used to promote feel–good messages, rather than radical social reforms. In 2009, the British marketing firm, Aurora Ventures, set up a "International Women's Day" website with corporate sponsorship. The website began to promote hash tags as themes for the day, which became used internationally.
Metro College Nursing celebrated International Women’S Day in the college premises. All the faculty and students participated in this event enthusiastically. The event started with the Nukkad Natak and followed by address of Principal Metro College of Nursing Prof. Pranati Barua , Senior administrative manager Mr Koul , Vice Principal Prof. Kiran Ahuja and other faculty members and students . All the female faculty members were honored with token of respect by male faculty members of the institution. The programme ended with a message for women empowerment, rights and equality.
