**Metro College of Nursing Hosts CNE Workshop on Palliative Care**
Metro College of Nursing, in collaboration with CanSupport, organized a two-day Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) workshop on Palliative Care on May 27th and 28th, 2024. This workshop was part of the mandatory module training in accordance with the new Indian Nursing Council Guidelines. The event was attended by students from B.Sc 4th year, B.Sc 5th semester, and B.Sc 3rd semester.
**Day 1: Comprehensive Introduction to Palliative Care**
The first day featured distinguished speakers including:
- Dr. Reena, Palliative Care Consultant and Trainer
- Ms. Savita Luka, Director of Nursing and Head of Palliative Home Care
- Ms. Babita, Senior Counselor
- Ms. Manju Bhatnagar, Nurse Trainer from CanSupport
The topics covered were:
- Introduction to Palliative Care
- Communication Skills and Breaking Bad News
- Introduction to Pain and Pain Management
- Psychosocial Issues
- Symptom Management
- Wound Management
- Pressure Sore Management
**Day 2: Advanced Care Techniques**
On the second day, the speakers included:
- Mr. Vijay Kumar, Nursing Officer, IRCH, AIIMS, New Delhi
- Dr. Ishita Gandhi, Medical Director, CanSupport
- Ms. Babita, Senior Counselor, CanSupport
- Ms. Manju Bhatnagar, Nurse Trainer, CanSupport
The topics discussed were:
- Lymphedema Care
- Ostomy Care
- Subcutaneous Therapy
- Final Days and Last Hours of Living
**Special Session: Laughter Therapy**
At the end of the workshop, Mr. Rakesh Setia and his team conducted a Laughter Therapy session, which brought a cheerful atmosphere among the attendees.
