The United Nations began celebrating International Women's Day (IWD) on 8th March during International Women's Year 1975. Every year, International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 to let her feel special and loved. This year, Women’s Day is all about focusing on creating a gender equal world.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2021 is “Choose To Challenge. It indicates that a “challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change”. We all can choose to challenge everything that has been holding us back, and become better allies. An awareness programme in the form of Nukkad Natak , Sanitary Pad Distribution was organised on 09th March, 2021 by Department of Community Health Nursing, Metro College of Nursing, Greater Noida on the occasion of International Women’s Day at CHC Bisrakh.
Objective:
• To spiritually awaken societal consciousness to strive for gender balance both in terms of respect, value and leadership.

The Community Health Nursing Department organised the event by involving students in conducting Nukked Natak to celebrate womens’ achievements , highlighting their potentials and raising awareness against gender bias, focussing that we all should choose to ‘challenge’ to bring the change. Flowers were given to female staff members and other women present there, as a token of appreciation.
PMS Day is also observed on 9th March every year. So, Distribution of Sanitary Pads to females of Village Bisrakh slum area was done at their houses by B.Sc. Nursing 4th year students & faculty of Metro College of Nursing to bring the awareness among them about Menstrual Hygiene.
Male Students of B.Sc. Nursing 4th year also appreciate the efforts of their Female batch mates with a small token of gratitude.
