Dr. Prateek Sharma is an accomplished pharmacology faculty and researcher with a PhD in Pharmacology from Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University. He brings extensive expertise in molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, and immunology, alongside proficiency in advanced lab instrumentation and bioinformatics tools. Currently serving as the Head of the Dept. of Pharmacology at Metro College of Health Sciences and Research, Dr. Sharma is dedicated to promoting research excellence and guiding students in their scholarly pursuits. He has a strong background in academia and industry, having held positions such as Scientific Support Specialist at ADInstruments and Senior Research Fellow at Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR). In these roles, he contributed significantly to research projects, secured grants, published in high-impact journals, and provided technical support and training on advanced scientific tools.
His research work includes a PhD thesis on the study of intestinal fructose transporters (GLUT2 and GLUT5) in a rodent model of fructose-induced metabolic syndrome, where he investigated the preventive potential of medicinal plants. His M.Pharm thesis focused on the immunomodulatory activity of Artemisia pallens in laboratory animals. Throughout his career, Dr. Sharma has demonstrated a deep commitment to continuous learning, participating in various conferences, workshops, and faculty development programs.
Dr. Sharma’s technical skills include expertise in operating and troubleshooting advanced laboratory instrumentation, proficiency in data analysis software and bioinformatics tools, and exceptional ability in protocol development and optimization. His strong project management skills have enabled him to oversee multiple research initiatives, while his technical support abilities have been crucial in providing training and demonstrations to students and researchers. Dr. Sharma is also skilled in delivering presentations, collaborating with teams, and documenting research findings clearly and effectively. Dr. Sharma enjoys teaching, reading, traveling, and engaging in creative hobbies such as cooking and painting.
