Indirapuram STP serves the south western part of Ghaziabad including major residential complexes located in the Trans-Hindon area along with sewage intercepted and diverted from Sahibabad drain. The Indirapuram STP has an installed capacity of 56 MLD and is based on “Sequential Batch Reactor” (SBR) technology. The STP is being operated and maintained by the GNN. The STP receives waste water flow of ~40 MLD9 and at present there is spare treatment capacity of ~16 MLD, thus enabling co-treatment due to this spare capacity.
Through this educational visit, students got significant and extremely useful information regarding various methods of removing contaminants from wastewater and household sewage, both runoffs, effluents, domestic, commercial and institutional by Mr. Ranjit Junior Engineer STP plant Shakti Khand-4 Ghaziabad. It includes physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove physical, chemical and biological contaminants. Students understood that which harmful contaminants are usually present in wastewater, which can be removed through different processes of water treatment so that the water can be safe for use by human consumption.
The trip proved to be immensely useful for the students as they learnt small and significant insights about wastewater. We would like to thank the Chief Engineer and Mr. Ajit Additional Engineer of GDA for allowing our students to visit 56MLD STP PLANT Shakti Khand Ghaziabad.
