The Orientation Programme (SAMAVESH 2022-23) was organized by Metro College of Health Sciences & Research (Pharmacy) for the newly admitted students of B.Pharm and D.Pharm on 12th October, 2022. The objective of the programme was to acclimatize the students to the new environment and get them acquainted with the institution culture. The program was organized under the inspirational support and encouragement of our board of directors, Honourable Dr. Purshotam Lal, (Chairman, Metro group of Hospitals and Institutes), Honourable Mrs. Punam Lal (Director, Metro group of Hospitals and Institutes, Honourable Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta (MD, MCHSR & Director, Metro Group of Hospitals).
The program was started with ceremonial lighting of the lamps, which was accompanied by the Ganesh Vandana. The college was then briefly described, including its motto, history and reputation as well as its recent accomplishments.
Prof. (Dr.) Kanak Lata, Director- Education, addressed the parents and students and gave them a warm welcome. She then thanked the board of directors Dr. Purshottam Lal, Mrs. Punam Lal and Dr.Sonia Lal Gupta for their vision and guidance. She encouraged the students by quoting an Idiom “Well began is half done”. She appreciated the students for their enthusing participation in all the modules of Student Induction Program and Orientation event. She advised the students and parents not to compare themselves with others, and have faith in their own strength and work towards honing their own skills- Self competition. She assured the parents that their wards are in the safe hands and we, at MCHSR will do our best in moulding their future. The students and parents were enthralled and motivated by madam’s talk. She informed the parents and students about a collaboration of Metro group of Hospitals as official medical Partners for Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2022, and encouraged them to take part in the event.
Warmly welcoming our students and providing them with much needed inspiration was Dr. Praveen K. Gaur, Principal, MCHSR. He underlined that working from the bottom of one's heart is the key to success in all facets of life. He spoke about the responsibilities of being a pharmacist as we are an integral part of health care system. Thus asked students to become responsible and disciplined as these aspects are the foundation of being a successful professional.
Prof. Pravin Prakash, Principal, MCN then addressed the students and presented a real world example, on the importance of being focused and attentive, to make it apparent that health professionals need to be the best among the rest which is possible only with extreme practice and dedication.
The Vice-Principal of MCHSR, Dr. Sameer Rastogi inspired the students present and urged them to pursue their goals and make use of the enormous resources the university offers in the area of research. He motivated the students by asking them to set goals and strive towards achieving them. He also quoted a stimulating phrase “Best is yet to come, journey should be memorable, let tomorrow come with better hopes and dreams”. He then thanked the parents and students for their presence.
Prof. Sneha Mathew then addressed the students and parents and wished the students luck for their future.
An introduction to Administration team was then presented by Mr. Gaurav sethi, Head HR- Admin, MCHSR. The teaching and non-teaching staff members were introduced by Ms. Rashmi Singh. She made a comprehensive presentation to transmit the necessary knowledge regarding the academic structure. Ms. Rehana Parveen then explained the examination cell. She focused on the format of the exams, the standards for assessment and evaluation, the co-curricular and extracurricular activities and the resources offered to the students. Mr. Aamir Malik then delivered a brief introduction on the rules and regulations of the college.
The Training and Placement cell held an educational presentation about job placement and career counselling. Along with the academics, the students received a briefing on the competencies needed to grow in accordance with the current labor market, which emphasizes their overall development in technical skills, non-technical skills, and aptitude.
Next up, was the cultural program that featured dance performances by various groups, song performances, instrumental vocal performance.
Kit distribution for the first year students and Certificate distributions commenced by dignitaries and the faculty members to honor the special talents.
The program concluded on an enthusiastic note with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Rosaline Mishra, Professor, MCHSR to all, especially to Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta, MD, MCHSR, Dr. Kanak Lata, Director Education for their support in organizing this program. Vote of thanks was also conveyed to Principal Dr. Praveen Kumar Gaur, Vice-Principal Sameer Rastogi, Principal-MCN Prof. Pravin Prakash, Vice-principal (MCP) Dr. Sameer Rastogi, Vice-principal (MCN) Prof. Muzzafar, Dean- MCN Prof. Sneha & All faculty Member of MCHSR for organizing the session and making this event successful.
