Metro College of Health Sciences & Research celebrated “60th National Pharmacy Week” from 22nd to 27th November 2021. As instructed by Indian Pharmacy Association, the theme of this year was “Pharmacist: An Integral Part of Healthcare”. The main aim of this week was to make all the students aware of the presence of pharmacists in the society and to know the role played by registered pharmacist with respect to medicines, their usage, handling and dispensing. It was followed by the official inauguration of National Pharmacy Week celebrations and speech by Ms. Niharika Lal (Associate Professor), MCHSR where she highlighted the roles and responsibilities of a pharmacist in the current scenario. The following activities were organized during NPW 2021 celebrations: Day 1: (Debate Competition)
On day 1 of Pharmacy Week, debate competition and poster competition were organized on 22nd November, 2021. Topics for debate competition were “Does social media contribute in uplifting pharmacy profession?”and “Drug addicts: Do they need help or punishment?” In debate competition, students highlighted their views on social media for pharmacy profession, they emphasized that social media will help in connecting with large number of audience for providing information. Students also shared their views on drug addiction. Diksha (B.Pharm 3rd year) and Akshat (B.Pharm 1st year) secured 1st and 2nd position respectively.
Day 2: (Pharma Quiz) Pharma Quiz was organized on the 2nd day of Pharmacy Week (23rd November, 2021). A total of 4 teams participated in the event. The main aim of this event was to analyze the knowledge of students regarding profession of pharmacy. Winners of pharma quiz were Shivani (B.Pharm 2nd year), Abdullah (B.Pharm 1st year) and Harshit (B.Pharm 2nd year).
Day 3: (Essay Writing and Rangoli Competition) Essay writing and rangoli competition were organized on the 3rd day of Pharmacy Week (24th November, 2021). Students participated in the competition with great zeal and zest. Topic for essay writing was Pharmacist: An integral part of healthcare. Anurag Pandey (B.Pharm 1st year) and Vivek Mishra (B.Pharm 2nd year) got 1st and 2nd prize respectively. In rangoli competition students made beautiful rangolis with colors and flowers representing theme of the National Pharmacy Week. Shivani and team secure 1st position, whereas Diksha and team secured 2nd position in the event.
Day 4: Poster Competition and T-shirt Painting On day 4 of National Pharmacy Week celebration, poster competition and t-shirt painting were organized on 25th November, 2021. Students showed their creativity by preparing various posters and t-shirt painting. The theme for poster competition was Pharmacist: An integral part of healthcare. Akshat Goenka of B.Pharm 1st year presented his poster on the theme where he highlighted the roles of pharmacist in healthcare and secured 1st position in the event. Md. Aaman from B.Pharm 1st year secured 1st position in t-shirt painting
Day 5: Carom and Volleyball On 5th day of National Pharmacy Week, 2021, final matches of carom and volleyball were organized. Students showed their excellent spirit and talent in carom and volleyball. Mehtab (D.pharm 2nd year) and Fahim (B.Pharm 2nd year) secured 1st and 2nd position in carom respectively. Vishal and team won the final match of volleyball.
Day 6: VOTE OF THANKS On the last day of National Pharmacy Week 2021, Valedictory session and Certificate distribution were organized. The session was started with the welcome speech by Dr. Niharika Lal followed by an address by Dr. Kanak Lata, Director of Education, where she highlighted the profession of pharmacy and role of pharmacist. She also inspired and blessed the students for their future endeavor. Certificates and bags were distributed to all the winners. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Niharika Lal, Associate Professor, MCHSR to all especially to Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta, MD, MCHSR, Dr. Kanak lata, Director of Education for their support to organize the program. Vote of thanks was also conveyed to the Principal Dr. Praveen Gaur, Vice-principal Dr. Sameer Rastogi and all faculty members of MCHSR for organizing the session and to make this event successful.
