Metro College of Health Sciences & Research celebrated “Matribhasha Diwas” on 21/02/22 from 01:15 pm- 04:15 pm. AICTE has directed the institutions that as per UNESCO declaration (1999), 21st February of every year to be celebrated as International Mother Language day. The significance of this day is to promote the dissemination of Mother Language and to create maximum awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions and diversity across the world and to inspire solidarity amongst the people speaking various languages.
The aim of the celebration is to highlight the linguistic diversity of our country and to encourage the usage of not only the respecive mother language, but other indian language as well. Event was conducted in the gracious presence of Honurable Principal Dr. Praveen Gaur and Vice-principal Dr. Sameer Rastogi. It was followed by the official Inaugration of “Matribhasha Diwas” by Ms. Garima Raj (Assistant Professor), MCHSR where she highlighted the linguistic diversity of our country, the need to preserve and protect mother tongue in a world which is rapidly changing due to technology and globalisation.
Team MCHSR arranged various competitions to develop inner skills among participants. The faculty, staff members and students of MCHSR displayed their talents in various in-house competitions. All the students participated in the event voluntarily and were highly appreciated for their active participation. It was very interacting event with a good response from students. The celebration ended with the elaboration of proper steps for pandemic protection.
The following activities were organized during Matribhasha Diwas Celebration 2022:

· Essay Writing
· T shirt painting
· Skit Competition
Students from D.Pharm and B.Pharm participated in the events and showed their talent.
Debate Competition
Topic for debate competition was “Is language a barrier in getting quality education”. In debate competition, students highlighted their views on why learning in mother language is important. Himanshu mishra (B.Pharm 1st year), Akshat (B.Pharm 1st year) and Khushboo (B.Pharm 2nd year) got 1st, 2ndand 3rd prize respectively.
Singing Competition
Students participated in the event
with great zeal. Students sang songs in
their mother tongue enthusiastically and some brilliant performances were
presented. Winners for singing competition were Vishnu (D.Pharm 1st year), Ankush (B.Pharm 1st
year) and Vivek Mishra (B.Pharm 2nd year) got 1st, 2ndand
3rd prize respectively.
Essay Writing
Topic for essay writing was “Matribhasha ka Mahttva”. Winners for essay writing competition were Naveen Sharma (D.Pharm 2nd year), Anil Upadhya (B.Pharm 1st year) and Manisha (B.Pharm 4th year).
T-shirt Painting
Students showed their creativity by painting t-shirts.Theme for t-shirt painting was based on “Matribhasha Diwas”. Winners for t-shirt painting were Pawan and his team (B.Pharm 2nd year) whereas Raja ali and his team (B.Pharm 1st year) secured 2nd position.
Skit Competition
Students participated and
performed a skit in this event. With their extraordinary performance, they
signified importance of our mother language. Team from D.Pharm 1st
year received the first prize and teams from B.Pharm 2nd year and
B.Pharm 1st year got 2ndand
3rd prize respectively.
Vote of Thanks
Vote of thanks was given by Ms. Monika Setia, Assistant Professor, MCHSR to all especially to Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta, MD, MCHSR and Dr. Kanak Lata, Director of Education for their support in organizing the program. Vote of thanks was also conveyed to Dr. Praveen Gaur (Principal), Dr. Sameer Rastogi (Vice-principal) and all faculty members of MCHSR for organizing the session and for making this event successful.
